'Morecambe Bay Solves the Heysham Mysteries' explores why there are the two churches at Heysham and the involvement of Morecambe Bay and Low Furness.

Heysham has two churches side by side, the ruinous St Patrick's Chapel and the parish church, St. Peter's. Why?

This controversial book studies the land around Morecambe Bay and how transport difficulties in the past made for a Christian resting point being needed before crossing Morecambe Bay to an Abbey in Low Furness or going on to other parts of Cumbria.

In addition, the author believs that the Celtic and Roman Christian persuasions met round Morecambe Bay. As a consequence, an event (the Synod of Whitby) generally accepted as probably being held on the east coast of England actually took place in Low Furness.

Central to all this is the huge area of Morecambe Bay with its dangerous Sands. Some of the tradgedies and near tradgedies that have taken place out on the Bay over the years are told of in the book.

This book is not a walking book. However, it can be used in conjuntion with its companion volume 'Morecambe Bay Rambles', which explores all around the Bay, using public transport.
